#1. Squats - One of the best all around vertical leap exercises and one of the best exercises for building leg strength. Squats can be performed in a squat rack with weight or they can be performed anywhere without weight. Start in an athletic stance and start to bend at the knees like you are going to sit down. Keep your back straight and keep your knees above your feet. Squat until your knees are at a 90 degree angle and then rise back up. If you are going to perform this exercise with weight, I recommend that you get the help of a trainer to check your form.
#2. Lunges - This is another great
exercises to increase vertical leap as it helps build the muscle in your quads. You can use dumbbells or you can start without any weight. Start in a standing position and lunge forward with one leg until your knee is at a 90 degree angle and then push yourself back to a standing position. Repeat with the other leg. Make sure to keep your torso upright when performing the lunge.
#3. Toe Raises - This exercise increases vertical leap by strengthening your calf muscle. For this exercise use a toe raise machine in a gym or simply use a thick piece of wood at home. Start with your heels hanging off the ledge and raise up to your tip toes. Then lower as far as your can and raise back up. You start with no weight or use dumbbells.
